The On-Site
Prevention Programme

The On-Site Prevention Programme consists of:

  • 1 ½ Hour Lecture on the Prevention of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
  • Individual Physical and Ergonomic Assessments of staff at their workstations

The Lecture is used to explain Work Related Disorders such as Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). We illustrate the main causes of RSI and how it occurs and describe how, with care, the different symptoms can be avoided. Particular attention is given to the importance of early recognition of symptoms. We provide an entertaining common sense approach to the subject that removes the fear factor and gives staff a good understanding of the stages necessary to include prevention in their own working regime.

In order to abide to the 1992 European Councils (EC) Directive it is recommended that each person is given an ‘Individual Physical and Ergonomic Assessment’.

Back to Back have a team of experts that are highly qualified in assessing work-related problems.

Individual Physical Assessments

Where relevant each staff member can be individually physically assessed in order to recognise any preliminary symptoms at the earliest possible stage. For these to be as accurate as possible, it is essential that the assessment takes place on-site because that is where problems occur.

There is no such thing as one correct sitting posture.  The way in which we sit influences the muscle strain of our entire body.  It is often the way that people maintain certain postures and habits when working that cause unnecessary strain and painful symptoms. We teach them how to adapt their working practices accordingly.

Individual Ergonomic Assessment

The ergonomic assessments are undertaken alongside the physical assessments. During this phase of the programme special attention is given to providing individuals with information to help prevent the type of equipment misuse that can lead to severe and possibly long-term physical damage. Where possible ergonomic alterations are made immediately to improve the individual’s working set up. People will be taught how to adjust their workstations to their particular needs.

By moving certain pieces of office equipment, sometimes only by a fraction of an inch, we can often show people how to remove the cause of the pain. The one variable component in any ergonomically designed office is the shape and size of human beings. It is, therefore, vital that every staff member is shown the ergonomically correct way to organise their equipment in relation to their own body structure.

Training the Trainers

‘Display Screen Equipment Risk Assessors Training Course’ for in house staff.

Our Training methods are stimulating, entertaining, dynamic and effective. They provide a common sense route to powerful techniques that will enhance staff performance at all levels. All our courses are tailored to the specific needs of our clients.
